The Malcantone The valleys of the Malcantone, extending from panoramic peaks to turquoise waters, welcome tourists between one leg of the Lake Ceresio, the Gulf of Agno, the Tresa River and the high and splendid mountains dividing Switzerland and Italy that rise tall over the Lake Maggiore.
Malcantone, among the areas of Tessin and more precisely of the Lake Lugano Region, is certainly the one that presents the highest number of characteristic corners and the widest variety of landscapes.
The region comprises 20 villages situated at various altitudes. The variety in the landscape is due to the fact that, following the flow of the Magliasina Riva, it climbs 270 m from the banks of the lake until reaching the base of Monte Lema, the peak of which is over 1600 m.
The characteristic point of Malcantone is Monte Lema, the peak of which can be reached either on foot or with the cable car from Miglieglia.
There are altogether over 300 km of paths that connect the most beautiful localities of Malcantone.
Those who seek rest will find a green and tranquil oasis as well as the best facilities to practice one's favorite sports: tennis, golf, horse-back riding, swimming, sailing, windsurf, etc.
Malcantone is rich in art and culture. Each village has it own peculiar mark and its own monument. Just to mention a few, we would like to point out the St. Ambrose Church in Cademario and the St. Stephan Church in Miglieglia, with their Roman church towers and frescoes from the 12th and 13th century. There are also many fascinating museums: The Ethnographic Museum in Curio, the Small Museum in Sessa, the Chocolate and Fishing Museum in Caslano, the Plebian Museum in Agno, the Forge Museum in Miglieglia (Mill), the gold mines, etc. The daily train, postal and airplane connections ensure an easy and rapid access to Malcantone.
The variety of the landscape, the mild climate, and rich waters, the flatter areas, the hills and mountains make Malcantone an ideal vacationing spot!
